All Natural Dog Food and Treats

Corrin | Toys & Treats | Thursday, 25 June 2009

Not unlike the rest of our family, Ollie is a bit of a food snob. He turns his nose up at processed treats and anything that doesn’t look quite like real bacon or chicken, preferring premium dog food and all natural treats – which are surprisingly difficult to find! But we’re okay with Ollie’s high-brow preferences, because we know that all natural pet foods provide him with all the nutrients he needs to live a long and healthy life – and we’d be a mess without our little Pooper Scooper.

That’s why I was absolutely thrilled to find www.k9cuisine.com with hundreds of all natural and organic treats, food, and toys for dogs and cats. Thanks to the nice people at k9cuisine, Ollie received an entire box stuffed full of tasty, high quality treats to try, including Loofa Pets, Farmers Market Sweet Potato Dog Treats, Flossies, Fromm Family Foods Duck & Sweet Potato Dry Dog Food, and Ollie’s absolute favorite – Free Range Chicken & Sweet Potato Wraps.

We obviously like to spoil Ollie, but we are price conscious and all of Ollie’s favorite treats are very reasonably priced at k9cuisine – Flossies are even half what we pay at our local doggie bakery! Not to mention that everyone I spoke with was super nice and our order arrived the very next day! You just don’t get that kind of service or selection when you order online from some of the big box pet stores.

Make sure to check out their blog and friend them on Facebook – k9cuisine is definitely a new favorite in our household and Ollie will be getting all natural treats for a very long time! Just look how happy he is…

Happy Furdaddy Day!

Furdaddies deserve a little recognition, too – for playing rough and scrubbing the carpets.

Keep your pooch looking and smelling great!

Every time we take Ollie to the vet, they compliment us on how healthy and shiny his coat is. The last time he was in for a visit, the vet tech said she just wanted to snuggle him all day he’s so soft. A healthy coat means more than Ollie looks pretty, it means he’s he’s getting the vitamins and nutrients he needs to stay healthy.

If your dog’s coat isn’t shiny and full – maybe it’s dull and they shed excessively or their skin is itchy and smelly – that could be a sign of a nutrient deficiency and Dinovite can customize a supplement that can have your pooch looking, feeling, and smelling better. Their solutions center walks you through a handful of questions about your pet that helps to recommend a personalized supplement that provides nutrients, digestive enzymes, vitamins, and amino and fatty acids that are essential to a happy and healthy canine. Dinovite also provides natural shampoos to help sooth and calm your dog’s skin, and get them smelling great.

Even if your dog is the picture of health, prevention is the best medicine, so check out Dinovite and see if there’s something you could be providing your furry friend to ensure that they live a long and healthy live!

Puppy Burrito

Corrin | A Day in The Life | Wednesday, 17 June 2009

I know I Twittered this picture this week, but I’ve gotten so many replies about how funny it is, that I thought it deserved a blog post.

Whenever I’m on the computer, Ollie waits for me to put a blanket on my lap, then hops up and I wrap him in the blanket like a little burrito. He will stay wrapped up like this for hours while I work.

PediPaws

Corrin | Toys & Treats | Friday, 12 June 2009

We take Ollie to the vet to get his nails trimmed every two weeks and it’s getting quite expensive. Our vet just recently raised the price from $10 to $12, which means we’re spending almost $300 a year on nail trims. That’s a car payment! Not only is it expensive, but it’s traumatic – Ollie yelps and squirms with each clip, which just breaks my heart.

We’ve all seen the commercials for PediPaws where the dogs actually look happy to have a manicure – so I was eager to give it a try with Ollie when we were offered the opportunity. If you aren’t familiar with PediPaws, it’s a battery operated dremmel tool that gently files dogs nails. Take a look at how cooperative the dogs look in the commercial…

Since it is battery operated, the directions clearly state that you must acclimate your dog to the PediPaws! First, we laid the PediPaws on the ground and let Ollie sniff it. Then we turned it on and let Ollie approach us, which did involve some barking, but after a few days of letting Ollie get comfortable with the PediPaws, we were ready to attempt or first trim.

There was some squirming and treats were needed to keep him focused on something else, but we did end up with a great trim and there were no heartbreaking yelps! It does take some time to get your pet familiar with the PediPaws and it does take a longer to file the nail than to clip, but PediPaws pays for itself after just a few uses and the end result is a much cleaner and less traumatic pet manicure! The PediPaws gets three paws up from Ollie and will definitely be replacing our bi-monthly trips to the vet!
