Since moving to Austin, we’ve had a difficult time finding boarding for Ollie. I gave in and scheduled the $44 pet evaluation at one facility, only to immediately walk out once I saw all the dogs penned outside with no supervision.
After Ollie’s last stay at another pet hotel, I found a tick on his chest, he had diarrhea for a week, and has since been very nervous whenever we get in the car with his overnight bag. While I don’t think he was mistreated, I do think the daily routine was too far removed from what he’s used to.
Not surprisingly, my stomach was in knots when I made a trip home last week and left Ollie at a new boarding facility, but I am so thrilled to share what a wonderful experience we had at Zoot Luxury Boarding.
I did my research beforehand, and Zoot had the highest rating on every review website I could find. I sent out a Tweet and several Austinites responded with nothing but rave reviews. When I called to schedule, they were so warm yet professional that I never second guessed our reservations.

Zoot is an absolutely beautiful facility that looks exactly like the photos on their website. In addition to boarding, Zoot is a fully staffed pet hospital, which helps put my mind at ease when boarding Ollie for an extended time.
Since this was our first visit to Zoot, I was given a full tour and was allowed to settle Ollie into his room with his own toys and blankets. The staff offered to keep an extra close eye on him and said they would call if they felt he needed any extra one-on-one time and that I was welcome to call and check-in anytime.

Ollie’s room was definitely luxurious and included a comfy pet cot and a doggie door leading to a covered outdoor patio. Each day of boarding Ollie was treated to outdoor play time, fed his own food on his regular schedule, and given lots of attention by the staff.

Dogs that stay over two nights are given a complementary bath before heading home. Ollie was picked up a little earlier than anticipated so they didn’t have time for a bath, but we were given a pass for a day of doggie daycare, which we will definitely be putting to use.
Ollie was excited to see us, but was calm and exhausted from all the play time and didn’t waste any time settling into a nap on the car ride home.

I love that we were sent home with a report card and that Zoot takes the time to list exactly who took care of Ollie during his stay. It makes me happy to see that he enjoyed group play time (he’s so protective when we’re around) and showed the staff the same love he shows us.

It’s such a relief to find a facility of Zoot’s caliber in Austin and know that we can board Ollie somewhere he enjoys and we don’t have to worry about his care whenever we leave town.
If you’re in Austin, we couldn’t recommend Zoot more highly. Make sure to check out their website, because they cater to all kinds of pets!
