My blog is Carbon Neutral

Corrin | Arf | Wednesday, 24 February 2010

carbon neutral offers and shopping with kaufDA.deOllie takes great pleasure in peeing on every tree he passes, so the least we can do is make his blog carbon neutral by planting a tree in his name, right?

According to a study by Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University and environmental activist, an average website causes about 0.02g (0,0008oz.) of carbon dioxide for each visit. Assuming an average blog gets 15,000 visits a month, it has yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 3,6kg (8lb.). This can mainly be tracked back to the immense energy usage from (mainframe) computers, servers, and their cooling systems.

The Arbor Day Foundation, in conjunction with the German company kaufDA, is planting tress in Plumas National Forest in Northern California to replace those destroyed by forest fires. For every blog that posts about the initiatives and displays the badge in their sidebar, one tree will be planted.

Go here to find all the details on how to make your blog carbon neutral!

Pet Friendly Branson Hotels

Corrin | Arf | Tuesday, 09 February 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson. All opinions are 100% mine. Please read my site policy if you have any questions.

After traveling 1,200 miles from Chicago to Austin, it’s clear that Ollie is a born traveler. He slept, he chewed bones, he stretched his legs at rest stops, and he even stayed overnight in a hotel.

That’s a major accomplishment for a feisty little weiner dog that barks at everything that goes bump in the night and significantly increases his odds of coming with on our next vacation!

Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing in Branson, Missouri, is a fabulous pet-friendly hotel that is situation close to the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel and the bright lights of the Branson strip which boasts museums, theme parks, and 49 live entertainment theaters -I still remember seeing an Elvis impersonator in Branson as a kid!

If you prefer to relax and stay close to your hotel – shopping, dining, spa treatments, and golfing are just a few of the amenities the Hilton has to offer. And both hotels have amazing weekend getaway packages at unbelievable prices – the romance package includes sparking wine and breakfast in bed!

Think they’d send few extra pieces of bacon up for Ollie?

Denise Richards dad, Irv, and rescue dachshund, Moby.

I am a fan of Denise Richards – and now I love her even more since she adopted a dachshund!

Moby is a 3-year-old black and tan piebald rescue that joins Rose, Lulu, Sara, Hank, Tina, George, and Lucy in the Richards household. Denise told PEOPLEPets.com that “he’s part of the family already.”

Yeah for celebrity dachshunds!

Stop Waiting and Get Going!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine. Please see my site policy if you have any questions.

Ollie is a weiner dog – he has no patience in general, let alone for slow internet. He’s got weiner dog videos to watch, treats to order, furry friends to keep in touch with, and things to blog about! He’s ready to stop waiting and get going!

2Charter understands a weiner dog’s online needs and is offering high-speed, DSL internet, for as low as $19.99 a month. With the fastest, and most reliable, internet available and four different speeds and packages to choose from (from general web surfing to mega-super internet usage), there is no way this weiner dog will be wasting time waiting for videos to load and blog updates to post.

I know you’re current internet provider is probably more of a basset hound than a weiner dog in terms of speed and agility, but hobble on over to Charter’s Facebook page for all the latest promotions and to learn how to switch to Charter internet and start enjoying your time online!

Installation is FREE – just make sure to put your weiner dog away while the installation man comes over. We all know that weiner dogs don’t appreciate strangers in their home.

Spend the holidays in Branson…and don’t forget the dog!

Corrin | Arf | Thursday, 17 December 2009

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson. All opinions are 100% mine. Please read my site policy if you have any questions.

The shows, attractions, mild weather, and beautiful Ozark Mountains make Branson a popular family vacation destination. My parents took my sister and I to Branson when we were small and I still remember seeing an Elvis impersonator, getting frilly garters at the saloon at Silver Dollar City, and taking a ride in the Ducks through Table Rock Lake.

I’ve been trying to convince my husband to take a road trip to Branson for quite some time, and because our family vacations now include Ollie, the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing is the perfect pet-friendly hotel to relax after a long day on the Branson strip!

During the holiday season, The Hilton Promenade and the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel are both offering some terrific packages to treat your family to the holidays in the warmth and comfort of the Ozark Mountains. Enjoy relaxing spa treatments, meet Santa, or celebrate the start of the New Year in Branson starting at only $189 per night.

So, do something a little different with your family this Christmas – visit Branson! And don’t forget the dog! He’s part of the family, too.

We even choose appliances with our pet in mind

Nothing white is safe in our house. Ollie’s little black hairs show up everywhere. Especially in the laundry room in the nooks and crannies of the white washer and dryer.

Washers and dryers come in an array of colors these days, and can be quite pricey, but Black Washing Machines would really help keep the laundry room looking neat and tidy and hide all the dog hair*.

If you’re in the market for a black washing machine, you can compare prices, get deals and discounts, and read reviews on all the latest models at http://www.blackwashingmachine.org.uk/.

*I want you all to know that our house really isn’t gross and overrun with dog hair, but if you have dogs you know how it is. You can’t keep it clean all the time!

Peeling a Banana

If that cartoon isn’t exactly like Ollie, then I don’t know what is.

Every morning, I get up, make myself breakfast, and at the exact moment that the bacon comes out of the microwave, Ollie magically appears.

Ditto for anything out of the refrigerator.

And cabinet.

And any bags rustling in the general direction of the kitchen.

Susan B. Komen Donations from Cryo-Cell International

Corrin | Arf | Wednesday, 18 November 2009

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of CryoCell International. All opinions are 100% mine. Please read my site policy if you have any questions.

Ollie has shown his support for breast cancer awareness several times by wearing his pink hoodie and his special breast cancer bandana. I don’t think any of us are separated from the effects of breast cancer by more than one person, which is tragic.

That’s why the partnership between Cryo-Cell International, Inc., the leading blood banking service, and the National Institute of Health is so important – they are exploring the potential uses of menstrual steam cells to treat breast cancer.

Cryo-Cell provides to different services – cord blood banking and menstrual blood banking. Each harvests stem cells and stores them if they are ever needed to treat over 75 diseases, including leukemia, sickle sell, and more. The list keeps growing as more research and experimentation is funded!

Cryo-Cell is currently offering contributions to the Susan B. Komen Foundation. A $50 Cyro-Cell Breast Cancer Donation will be made for each purchase of the Protect Baby, Protect Mom service and a $25 C’Elle Breast Cancer Donation will be made for each purchase of the C’elle Menstrual Stem Cell service.

Not only can you protect you and your baby with Cryo-Cell, you can contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
