Ollie is clearly spoiled beyond all that is reasonable (hello – you’re reading his blog!), but even I have my limits. And $44 to evaluate his behavior before being allowed to make a boarding reservation is absurd.
But that’s exactly what is required at one Austin-area dog boarding facility.
Now, I’m not going to name the facility because it’s nice, and they were nice when I called, and it was recommended by several friends – but if you’re looking to board your dog in the Austin-area, it’s won’t take you long to discover the facility I’m talking about.
I understand the need for a meet-and-greet, especially if your pet is staying for an extended period of time or if the facility is especially hands-on, but essentially charging a potential customer to become a customer isn’t good business. Particularly when that potential customer was willing to book $228 worth of doggie hotel reservations.
I realize they have a booming business, excellent facilities, and cater to a certain clientel – but it’s beyond what I’m willing to spend on my pet, and I never thought I’d say that!
Ollie has stayed at pet resorts before, he’s charmed pet-sitters in three states, and he’ll be booking a return stay at another local pet ranch which doesn’t require an evaluation fee.
I mean, how could this little guy possibly be a trouble maker?

Ollie is used to traveling. Whether he’s going for a road trip to visit family or moving across the state or country, he takes it all in stride. He’s even used to being surrounded by packing supplies, he’s moved so many times. Boxes, bubble wrap, a mattress bag, and packing tape are all familiar sites.
ABF Upack is the only company he (and his owners) recommend for all of your moving needs. Their packing supplies are study and affordable, their moving services are friendly and reliable, and it’s easy to find everything you need on their website.
Ollie’s moved from Indianapolis to Chicago to Austin with the help of ABF Upack, and when he’s ready to move on to the next big city, he knows to look no further than ABF Upack for everything he needs for a smooth move.

If you’re a dachshund owner (or just a dachshund lover), you will appreciate how exciting this is…

Noodle and Friends is a pet boutique that sells fashionable harnesses, coats, and clothing made especially for dachshunds! Everything is sized by length, girth, and neck size – just a few of the qualities that make dachshunds unique!
The styles are chic and tailored and absolutely adorable. I already know exactly which coat Ollie will be sporting this winter! I think he’ll look dashing in the camel coat, don’t you?

I have no relationship with Noodle and Friends and was not compensated for this post – though Ollie would be happy to model any jacket once the weather cools down in Texas. I discovered the site on my own and thought I would share!

When we first brought Ollie home, he was such a teeny tiny little weiner dog that we gave him his baths in the sink. Where he squealed and squirmed because I don’t think he had ever had a bath before.
Or maybe he was just upset that his first bath wasn’t in a granite sink. He’s picky like that.
And so are we. One day we’ll have granite sinks throughout our home because they are beautiful and durable, and add value to any home.
Low prices, combined with BBB accreditation and same day shipping, make Mr. Direct an obvious stop on your search for granite sinks, as well as faucets and accessories for the kitchen and bathroom.
So, upgrade to a granite sink. Your puppy will appreciate it.
