Itchy Scratchies
Poor Ollie has the itchy scratchies.
He has a patch of bumps underneath his front leg (arm? armpit? legpit?) that he’s licked raw. For the past week we’ve been controlling his licking with Benadryl, Hydrocortisone spray, and antiseptic.

Cool baths with oatmeal shampoo also seem to help.
Oak pollen levels are at record highs in our area, so we think he’s developed an allery. There’s been no changes to his diet and he hasn’t gotten into anything he shouldn’t have, so we’ve ruled those two causes out.
Unfortunately, a vet visit isn’t in our budget. Fortunately, the itching just seems to annoy him, not cause him any pain.
Are there any itching remedies you use for your pets?

poor guy. the woes of the low. riley gets pretty bad on his chest and armpits too. there’s inexpensive over the counter hot spot treatments that work pretty well.

Spice gets these, too. We have her on a prescription allergy medicine, which keeps it down most of the time. But we do live in Kentucky- the allergy capital of the US- so last year, we had to go ahead and get her a shot of cortisone. Cleared it right up! Love your site, just ran into it. Spice is a black and tan short hair, too. And completely rotten.
Angela – They are all spoiled rotten.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m posting an update on Ollie’s itchy scratchies right now. Hope Spice makes it through allergy season!
