Spinning for Spaghetti
Does your pet have a treat that they absolutely go crazy for? Something extra special that they only get once in a while that sends them running circles through the house?
For Ollie, that special treat is spaghetti. He completely loses his minds when he gets a whiff. In fact, all the dogs in our family love spaghetti, which we’ll take as a compliment.
Of course, I had to take the opportunity to make him do a few tricks, but in the end he enjoyed a giant bowl of spaghetti and a good nap. That’s a good day for a dachshund.
How Cute…………..Stretch & Ellie love McDonalds hamburgers and fries.
Normally when we eat they know they’re not allowed in the kitchen and will sit in the doorway watching us but McDonald’s hamburgers and they know they’re getting some and are right there next to the table waiting.
Once in a while I’ll go pick up McDonalds for lunch and they can tell where I’ve been as soon as I get out of the car they go nuts. They sit quietly in the kitchen while we break their burgers up and when they eat it’s one of the few times Stretch’s OCD doesn’t come into the play with her walking around touching her food and trying to cover it up. We have to get a large order of fries because they’ll sit and wait for those when their burger’s done.

Dee – Ollie waits patiently on the rug in the hallway while I cook, but all bets are off on spaghetti night. I think he might have a touch of the OCD, too. He hides and covers up all of his treats for later.

I wonder if the OCD is a dachshund thing. We had a mini dachshund, Buddy, with the colorings of Ollie that was OCD. He’d walk around his food dish touching all sides about 3 times before eating. When Buddy died the vet called us about Ellie, a red mini dachshund who’s got a slight case but not too noticeable now. Stretch is part dachshund/chihuahua/rat terrier and she’s the worst of all of them. One night we were eating mini vanilla wafers one night and I gave the dogs each one. We had new carpeting and Stretch scratched the carpet and got up all the loose fibers and covered her cookie with it.
